ABOUT OUR COMMUNITY RABBI

 Rabbi Robin Nafshi

Rabbi Robin Nafshi has joined Ohr Tikvah this Winter as part-time Community Chaplain, to provide outreach support to Jewish community members, particularly individuals who are not affiliated with a specific congregation.  She works in collaboration with congregational rabbis to assess healing and pastoral needs in our community, and develops and facilitates innovative community programs.

Additionally, Rabbi Nafshi currently serves as Associate Rabbi at Temple Beth-El in Hillsborough, where she also teaches in the Religious School.

Robin Nafshi attended New York University and Cornell Law School.  After moving to San Francisco, she worked as an attorney, legal author and editor.  Rabbi Nafshi became very involved in the Jewish community. In the late 1990s, she realized her calling in her commitment to the Jewish people and Jewish life. In 2000, Rabbi Nafshi was accepted to Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. While in rabbinical school, she was the Rabbinic Intern at Temple B’nai Or in Morristown, NJ. After her ordination in 2005, she served as the Assistant Rabbi at Temple Emeth in Teaneck, NJ, and as a Hospice Chaplain for the Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey. For the past two years, she directed Rimon, a community collaborative adult Jewish education program housed at the JCC in West Orange, NJ.

  THE HISTORY OF

OHR TIKVAH JEWISH HEALING CENTER

Ohr Tikvah Jewish Healing Center  was founded in 2001 by community members and clergy who recognized that Jews in our area could benefit from a caring community in which knowledge could be exchanged, support could be given and received, and through which the Jewish community could be more responsive to non-affiliated and affiliated Jews during moments of crisis, challenge or opportunity for change.
